Welcome to Cine Linux! We appreciate your interest in our project and your decision to be part of our community. These General Terms of Use (hereinafter “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Cine Linux, establishing your rights and responsibilities when accessing and using our platforms: the main website cinelinux.com (WordPress) and our community/forum hub.cinelinux.com (Discourse). By accessing, Browse, registering, or using any of our platforms, you declare that you have read, understood, and agree to fully comply with this document, as well as our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use our services.


1. About Cine Linux and Our Platforms

Cine Linux (cinelinux.com) is an online platform dedicated to the production and curation of content, articles, tutorials, and publications focused on the intersection of cinema and technology. Our main goal is to foster the use and discussion of free and open-source software, especially the Linux operating system, in audiovisual and creative productions, and in everyday life.

Our subdomain, Hub Cine Linux (hub.cinelinux.com), operates as a vibrant discussion forum and a collaborative wiki. Built with the Discourse platform, it serves as a space to deepen knowledge, exchange experiences, answer questions, and build an engaged community around Cine Linux themes.


2. Acceptance of Terms and Conditions

By creating an account, posting content, commenting, reading articles, or Browse any of the Cine Linux platforms, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these General Terms of Use. If you represent an entity (e.g., a company or organization), you warrant that you have the legal authority to bind that entity to these terms.


3. Your Permission and Conditions for Use

Cine Linux grants you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, and non-transferable license to access and use our platforms, strictly in accordance with these Terms of Use. This license is solely intended to allow you to enjoy Cine Linux services for personal and non-commercial purposes.

To access and actively participate in Cine Linux, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Minimum Age: Be at least 13 (thirteen) years of age. Users under 18 (eighteen) years of age must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the platforms, and parents/guardians will be fully responsible for the actions of their children or wards.
  • No Prohibition: Not be prohibited from participating in the platforms by express determination of the Cine Linux team due to prior violations of these Terms.
  • Full Acceptance: Fully and continuously comply with these Terms of Use, especially the Acceptable Use (item 4.1) and Code of Conduct (item 5) sections.

3.1. Acceptable Use

The use of Cine Linux and Hub Cine Linux must always be for lawful purposes and in a manner that promotes a constructive and positive environment. The following is strictly prohibited and may result in the suspension or termination of your account:

  • Violation of Laws: Using the platforms to violate any applicable local, national, or international laws.
  • Unauthorized Account Use: Accessing or using third-party accounts without explicit prior consent from the account holder.
  • Prohibited Commercialization: Commercializing, selling, renting, or transferring your account, platform access, or access invitations without express written authorization from Cine Linux.
  • Spam and Data Collection: Sending spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, unsolicited multi-level marketing, or any type of mass and unwanted content. Collecting data from other users (emails, personal information, etc.) without express permission for that purpose.
  • Automation and System Abuse: Using bots, robots, crawlers, scrapers, automated extensions, or any other automated means to access, interact with, or collect data from the platforms, except for public indexing by legitimate and permissible search engines. It is also prohibited to attempt to overload, interfere with, or disable the operation of the platforms or their servers.
  • Mass Content: Using the platforms to send mass content, such as email lists, automated newsletters, or repetitive messages.
  • False Affiliation: Falsifying your affiliation with Cine Linux, its representatives, or any other person or entity.
  • Unauthorized Embedding: Embedding, displaying, or replicating parts of the platforms on other websites, applications, or platforms without prior written authorization from Cine Linux.
  • Removal of Markings: Removing any copyright markings, licenses, proprietary notices, or any other identifications of protected content posted on the platforms.
  • Reverse Engineering: Attempting to decompile, decipher, or reverse engineer any software or source code of the platforms.

4. Content and Intellectual Property


4.1. Original Cine Linux Content

All original content published on cinelinux.com, including, but not limited to, articles, tutorials, reviews, graphics, videos, and other materials, is the exclusive intellectual property of its respective authors and the Cine Linux project.

  • Personal and Non-Commercial Use: You may access, read, and download content for your personal and non-commercial use.
  • Reproduction and Attribution: Full or partial reproduction of content in other media is permitted, provided that the original source is attributed with a direct and visible link to the article on cinelinux.com. Any use that does not include proper attribution will be considered a copyright violation.
  • Commercial Use: For any commercial use of Cine Linux content, you must obtain prior written permission.

4.2. User-Generated Content (UGC)

On hub.cinelinux.com (forum and wiki), we encourage active participation through User-Generated Content (UGC). By posting, submitting, uploading, or otherwise making content available (including text, images, videos, etc.) on our forum and wiki, you agree to the following:

  • Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the UGC you publish. You warrant that you have all necessary rights to publish such content and that it does not infringe on copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, or other intellectual property or privacy rights of third parties.
  • License to Cine Linux: You grant Cine Linux a global, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, and sublicensable license to store, host, display, distribute, reproduce, modify (for formatting or platform suitability purposes), adapt, publish, and translate this content, exclusively within the context and for the purposes of Cine Linux and Hub Cine Linux. This license aims to allow your content to be properly presented, shared, and indexed within the community and its associated resources. You agree that Cine Linux may display advertisements or other content around your content.
  • Your Copyrights: You remain the owner of your copyrights over the UGC you publish. The license granted to Cine Linux serves to allow your content to be displayed, shared, and promoted within and through our platforms.
  • Moderation and Removal: Cine Linux reserves the right, but not the obligation, to monitor, remove, edit, or block any UGC that, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms of Use, our Code of Conduct, or is otherwise deemed inappropriate or harmful.

5. User Code of Conduct

Our goal is to maintain a respectful, constructive, welcoming, and safe online environment for all community members. By interacting on any of our platforms, you agree to strictly adhere to the following Code of Conduct:

5.1. Respect and Courtesy

  • Be Respectful: Treat all members with respect, courtesy, and consideration, regardless of their opinions, experiences, or knowledge levels.
  • Avoid Personal Attacks (Ad Hominem): Criticizing ideas and arguments is healthy, but personal attacks, insults, defamation, or harassment of other users are strictly prohibited.
  • Appropriate Language: Use language appropriate for a professional and collaborative environment. Avoid slang, offensive terms, obscenities, or excessively aggressive language.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Respect diversity of opinions, cultures, and experiences. Discrimination or hate speech based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, disability, age, or any other personal characteristic will not be tolerated.

5.2. Published Content

  • Constructive and Relevant Content: Post content that is relevant to Cine Linux topics and contributes positively to the discussion.
  • Offensive or Illegal Content: It is prohibited to publish or share any content that is:
    • Offensive, abusive, threatening, defamatory, libelous, obscene, pornographic, or that incites violence.
    • Discriminatory or that promotes hatred against individuals or groups.
    • Illegal, that infringes on copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, privacy, or publicity rights of third parties.
    • That contains malware, viruses, spyware, or any other malicious code.
  • False or Misleading Information: Do not share information that is knowingly false, misleading, inaccurate, or that may mislead. Verify the truthfulness of your information before publishing it.
  • Privacy: Do not share your personal information or that of third parties (addresses, phone numbers, private emails, etc.) without explicit consent.
  • Intellectual Property: When sharing third-party content (articles, images, videos, etc.), always cite the source and the original author, when applicable, and ensure that you have the right to share that content.

5.3. Best Practices and Mutual Help

  • Stay on Topic: Keep your discussions within the scope of the original topic. If you want to discuss something different, create a new topic in the appropriate category.
  • Be Clear and Concise: Write clearly and objectively to facilitate understanding.
  • Help Other Members: If you have knowledge and can help, do so patiently and instructively.
  • Use the Search Function: Before creating a new topic with a question, use the forum’s search function to check if the question has already been discussed or answered.
  • Report Inappropriate Content: If you encounter content or behavior that violates this Code of Conduct or the Terms of Use, please use the reporting function or contact the moderation team. This helps maintain the quality and security of our platforms.

6. Enforcement of Rules and Moderation

Cine Linux reserves the exclusive right to moderate, edit, move, remove, restrict access to content or accounts that violate any part of these Terms of Use and/or the Code of Conduct, with or without prior notice. The decisions of the moderation team are final and not subject to public discussion. Moderation actions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Editing or removing posts.
  • Warnings.
  • Temporary account suspension.
  • Permanent account ban.
  • Restriction of platform functionalities.

Our goal is to maintain a safe and productive environment for everyone, and moderation measures are applied to ensure compliance with the rules and maintain the quality of the community.


7. Your Account and Security

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and any other access credentials to your Cine Linux account. You are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account, regardless of whether they were authorized by you or not.

You agree to:

  • Immediately notify Cine Linux of any unauthorized use of your account or any other security breach you become aware of.

8. Your Responsibility for Conduct and Content

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cine Linux, its affiliates, directors, employees, and agents from any and all legal, financial, administrative liability, claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from or related to:

  • Any content you post on the platforms.
  • Your conduct or interactions with other users on the platforms.
  • Your violation of these Terms of Use and/or the Code of Conduct.
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including copyrights, intellectual property, or privacy rights.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Cine Linux and its platforms (cinelinux.com and hub.cinelinux.com) are provided “as is” and “as available.” Cine Linux offers no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including, but not limited to, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free availability.

Cine Linux does not warrant that:

  • The platforms will be free of failures, interruptions, bugs, viruses, or other harmful components.
  • Any information or content obtained on the platforms will be accurate, complete, reliable, or useful. All use of the platforms and reliance on any information obtained are at your sole risk.
  • Any errors will be corrected.

Cine Linux is not responsible for losses, damages, or injuries of any kind (direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential) caused by information or advice obtained on the platforms, or by your reliance on such information.


10. Limitation of Cine Linux’s Liability

In no event will Cine Linux, its directors, employees, partners, or affiliates be liable for any lost profits, loss of data, loss of use, business interruption, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages, or any other damages of any kind, arising from the use or inability to use the platforms, even if Cine Linux has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Cine Linux’s total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to these Terms of Use or the use of the platforms, regardless of the form of action, will be limited to the total amount paid by you to Cine Linux (if any) for access and use of the platforms in the 12 (twelve) months preceding the date the claim arose.


11. User Comments and Opinions

The comments, publications, and opinions expressed by users on both platforms represent only the opinion of their respective authors. They do not necessarily reflect the official position, approval, or endorsement of Cine Linux or its team. Cine Linux is not responsible for any user-generated content.


12. Account Termination

  • Termination by You: You can terminate your Cine Linux account at any time by following the instructions available in your profile settings or by contacting the support team via email at [email protected].
  • Termination by Cine Linux: Cine Linux reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the platforms, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms of Use, the Code of Conduct, or if Cine Linux deems your actions harmful to the platforms or other users.

13. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

Any controversy, dispute, or claim arising from or related to these Terms of Use or the use of Cine Linux will first be resolved amicably between the parties, when possible, seeking dialogue and negotiation.

If amicable resolution is not possible, the court of the district of Penha, Santa Catarina, Brazil, is elected to resolve any doubts or disputes arising from these Terms of Use, with express waiver of any other, however privileged. Brazilian law will be the sole applicable law for the interpretation and execution of these terms.


14. General Terms

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and Cine Linux regarding the use of the platforms and supersede any prior agreements, communications, and understandings, whether oral or written, concerning the same subject matter.
  • Severability: If any part or provision of these Terms of Use is deemed invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining clauses and provisions will remain in full force and effect.
  • No Waiver: Cine Linux’s failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms of Use will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
  • Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms of Use without the prior written consent of Cine Linux. Cine Linux may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms of Use at any time, without prior notification.

16. Changes to the Terms of Use

These Terms of Use and the Code of Conduct may be amended periodically by Cine Linux. The “Last updated” date at the beginning of the document will be revised. Your continued use of the platforms after the publication or notification of any changes will imply your acceptance and agreement to the revised terms.
